Chicago police are investigating after a man and woman were found shot inside an apartment building on the Near North Side. CPD said the man’s injuries may have been self-inflicted.
Police responded to calls of shots fired on the 8th floor of the apartment building at 1000 North LaSalle shortly after 10 p.m. They found a 24-year-old woman in the hallway with gunshot wounds to her torso and buttocks, according to a CPD media statement. A 26-year-old man was also found shot inside the building.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that the male shot the female victim multiple times before sustaining what appears to be a self-inflicted [gunshot wound] to the head,” the police media statement said. Officers recovered a gun and shell casings at the scene.
The man and woman were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
