Chicago — A 35-year-old man is in critical condition after police found him shot in Albany Park overnight.

Chicago police officers found the man down on the ground when they responded to a call of a person shot in the 3400 block of West Sunnyside around 1:10 a.m., according to a CPD media statement. He had a gunshot wound to his leg, and officers tried to slow his blood loss by applying a tourniquet. Police said he is in critical condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

One witness said shots were fired from a white vehicle, but another witness told police that the gunman, wearing a red jacket, ran from the scene, according to police radio transmissions.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
