2 armed robberies reported minutes apart in Bucktown

Chicago — Two men were robbed minutes apart in separate incidents in Bucktown on Tuesday evening, Chicago police said. The same crew is believed to be responsible for both crimes, but no arrests have been made.

The first victim, a 29-year-old man, was walking south in the 1600 block of North Claremont when a carload of armed men pulled up next to him around 6:58 p.m., police said.

Two gunmen stepped out of the car, demanded his property, and then returned to the getaway vehicle.

Moments later, a 23-year-old man was robbed as he walked north in the 1700 block of North Winnebago, according to CPD. Three men armed with handguns stepped out of the car to rob him of his backpack and computer. Police found the man’s phone discarded in the 2200 block of West Wabansia.

The robbers traveled in a silver SUV, possibly a Kia Sportage, according to a police report. Officers who responded to the calls said the robbers were Black males wearing face masks, with one offender wearing a red sweatshirt.
