Chicago police are warning bars on the North Side about a burglar who has targeted taverns during a string of crimes since mid-January. So far, he has struck in Lakeview, North Center, and Lincoln Square.
The most recent burglary occurred at Trader Todd’s, 3216 North Sheffield, on Thursday afternoon. A burglar alarm brought police to the scene quickly, but not quickly enough to catch the prowler. Police believe the same man broke into a bar in the 2900 block of North Sheffield shortly before the Trader Todd’s incident.
CPD said the same man burglarized bars in the 4700 block of North Rockwell around 12:17 a.m. on January 16; the 3800 block of North Lincoln at 9 a.m. on January 28.
According to the police, he broke windows or doors to access two of the bars while he entered the others through unlocked doors. He steals various items and cash from the registers.
The suspect is a Black male between 20- and 35-years-old, 5’8″ to 6-feet tall, and 190 to 200 pounds, a police alert said. He wears a dark ski mask, a dark puffy jacket, jeans, and black gym shoes.
