Chicago — Charges are pending after members of a Buddhist congregation detained a man who tried to sexually assault a woman inside their Ravenswood temple on Wednesday evening.
A Chicago police spokesperson said the woman was inside a restroom in the 4400 block of North Damen when a man tried to sexually assault her around 6:23 p.m. The spokesperson did not say precisely where the attack occurred, but a police report listed the address as 4429 North Damen, the home of Chùa Quang Minh Temple.
The report said other people inside the temple intervened and held the offender until officers arrived. CPD said the woman declined medical attention.
Further details about what happened are expected to be released during the man’s bail hearing if the charges are approved.
