Man shot during robbery in South Loop

Chicago — A 21-year-old man was shot during a robbery in the South Loop on Sunday morning, Chicago police said.

Officers were first called to the 2300 block of South Wabash about a suspicious person. Residents there said a man was knocking on their doors and ringing their doorbells, saying he had been shot.

Cops found the victim, who said he was in the 2200 block of South Wabash when the robber got out of a red Ford and approached him around 6 a.m. He told officers the offender shot him, took his phone, and then fled in the red car, according to initial information from the scene.

Police said the victim is in critical condition at Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds to both thighs.

CPD did not release a description of the gunman.
