Man shot in West Loop, crime scenes found on two blocks

Chicago police are investigating after cops found a man a shot and shell casings littering two West Loop streets on Sunday morning.

CPD said a 26-year-old man was standing in the 200 block of North Aberdeen when someone shot him around 4:25 a.m. The victim told officers that he didn’t know where the gunshots came from, police said. EMS took him to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition with two gunshot wounds to his leg.

Officers said they found four shell casings on the 200 block of Aberdeen, but they found even more lying in the 200 block of North Carpenter, which is one block to the east.

A witness who spoke with CWB Chicago said they believe they saw a gunman running away and getting into a car that sped away from the 1000 block of West Fulton. So far, though, no arrests have been made.

Area Three detectives are heading up the investigation.
