Chicago — A man was shot while sitting in a car in Rogers Park on Saturday morning, Chicago police said. Now, investigators are trying to determine if the gunman is the boyfriend of a woman the man was with.
The 57-year-old victim told police he was sitting in his parked car in the 7300 block of North Greenview when a man walked up and shot him in the left side around 4:59 a.m., according to CPD.
Initial information from the scene indicated that the victim had been hanging out with a woman when her boyfriend showed up and shot him. But only the victim was on the scene when police arrived. Investigators said they found one shell casing inside the victim’s car.
Fire Department personnel took the victim to St. Francis Hospital in good condition.
He is the seventh person shot in Rogers Park this year, according to city of Chicago data. That’s one more person shot than at the same point in 2022. Rogers Park had only two shooting victims as of this date in 2021.
