3 detained, stolen BMW recovered after shooting in Albany Park

Chicago — Three people are in custody after a man was shot in Albany Park on Sunday morning, according to Chicago police.

Officers responded to calls of shots fired and reports of gunfire being exchanged between the occupants of two cars in the 2800 block of West Wilson around 6:15 a.m.

Police officers found about 30 shell casings lying in the traffic lanes and more casings inside and next to a stolen BMW nearby, according to CPD radio traffic. Two firearms were also found in the area.

Cops found the shooting victim, a 24-year-old man, in a yard along with a 22-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man. All of them were detained for trespassing, and the investigations into the shooting and the stolen car are ongoing.

EMS transported the victim to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in fair condition with two gunshot wounds to his lower back, according to a CPD media statement.
