CHICAGO — A man is in critical condition after someone stabbed him in the neck near the Alder Planetarium on Thursday evening, Chicago police said.
The 23-year-old was in the 900 block of East Solidarity Drive when a vehicle pulled up near him around 7:11 p.m., CPD said in a media statement. As he approached the vehicle, someone stabbed him from inside, striking him in the neck.
Witnesses reported a group of between five and ten people fighting in the area around the time of the stabbing, but it is not known if the incidents are related. That altercation was captured on video shared with CWBChicago by @ChicagoCritter:
The lakefront area long Solidarity Drive has become a popular hangout spot during warm months. Three people were shot while gathered in the area on June 11, 2022. Chicago police usually block after-hours vehicle access to the area in late spring and summer.
