Man shot after fishing at North Side park

CHICAGO — A 23-year-old man was shot as he returned to his car after fishing at a North Side park on Wednesday evening.

The victim and his younger brother were returning to their car in the 3100 block of West Carmen when several men approached them around 10:30 p.m. Police said at least one man in the group began shooting, and one round struck the victim in the face.

Investigators found bullet holes in the victim’s car and shell casings lying on Carmen Avenue, just west of River Park.

The group of men ran from the scene after the shooting, police said. No arrests have been made.

Chicago police said the man is in critical condition at St. Francis Hospital.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas.
