CHICAGO — Shots were fired during a fight inside a South Loop movie theater on Saturday evening, Chicago police said, but no one was injured. Two men are in custody.
Officers responded to shots fired at the ShowPlace ICON Theatre, 1011 South Delano Court, around 7:30 p.m. Police said two men were involved in a physical altercation inside the theater when one pulled out a gun and fired shots at the other.
Police arrested two men at the scene and recovered a firearm.
Occupants of the theater complex were evacuated, and the cinema remained closed as of 8:30 p.m., according to a Chicago police media statement.
“This happened 20 feet from me tonight,” @FeistyHarriet tweeted. “[The] first shooter shoved past me to start fighting w/ the other guy, I saw first 2 shots fired.”
She said she was with her sister and her sister’s 11- and 13-year-old children.
“They listened to everything we told them to do, didn’t look back, & we all ran like hell down emergency stairs.”
