CHICAGO — An altercation near Belmont Harbor ended with a man getting carjacked on Wednesday evening, Chicago police say. Cops found the stolen car abandoned in Lakeview a little while later.

A 20-year-old man was stopped at a stop sign in the 3600 block of North Recreation Drive when another car pulled up behind him around 5:20 p.m.

Police said three men got out of the second car, and the man got out of his Chevy Malibu, leading to an argument in the street, not far from the park’s tennis courts.

One of the men tried to hit the victim, and another man got into the victim’s Malibu, police said. The victim grabbed the car’s door handle as the man drove away, causing him to fall and hit his head. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with minor injuries, a police spokesperson said.

The other two offenders climbed into their vehicle and left the scene. Witnesses said their vehicle was a white or silver pickup truck with no tailgate. They were described as two White men, one of whom wore a black t-shirt, and a Hispanic man who was tattooed and wearing a red t-shirt.

Shortly after 7 p.m., police found the stolen Malibu abandoned behind the 600 block of West Briar. No arrests have been made.
