Chicago police are warning about a rash of forcible burglaries of apartments on the Magnificent Mile and in the West Loop and River North. Four break-ins have been reported since last Thursday, according to a community alert CPD issued Monday night.

The alert said one or two men are prying their way through apartment doors. Once they’re inside the unit, they ransack the place, take valuables, and escape on foot, police said.

All of the break-ins occurred during the afternoon. Two apartments were targeted in the 500 block of North Michigan on Thursday. The other two burglaries occurred on Saturday in the 300 block of West Hubbard and the 700 block of West Jackson.

Police described the burglars as Black males between 20 and 25 years old who wore dark clothing.
