Woman sexually assaulted while returning to her Lincoln Park home: CPD

A woman was sexually assaulted as she entered her Lincoln Park home over the weekend, Chicago police said. The attacker remains on the loose.

The 28-year-old was attacked after she arrived at her home in the 1900 block of North Sheffield around 3:29 a.m. Saturday, according to a CPD spokesperson.

As she walked up the stairwell to the second floor, a man pushed her from behind, grabbed her by the neck, and sexually assaulted her, police said.

She was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment. A CPD spokesperson said she was in good condition.

Police did not release a description of the assailant. Area Three detectives are handling the investigation.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
