Chicago police are investigating two armed carjackings reported on Friday, one in Wicker Park and the other in Lakeview. No arrests have been made in connection with either case.
In Wicker Park, a 45-year-old woman was carjacked after she parked in the 1400 block of North Bell around 8:55 a.m. A CPD spokesperson said two men with a firearm confronted her as she stepped out of her black Volkswagen SUV. They demanded her vehicle and drove away with it.
Then, a 56-year-old man was carjacked in Lakeview around 10:05 p.m. The police spokesperson said three hijackers displayed a gun and grabbed his keys in the 500 block of West Oakdale.
All three offenders escaped in the victim’s black Nissan Rogue. Police found the SUV abandoned a short time later in the 1800 block of South Harding. They returned it to the owner, the spokesperson said.
An officer who responded to the Lakeview carjacking said the suspects were three skinny Black males between 16 and 19 years old. The one who displayed a firearm stood about 5’11” tall, weighed 150 to 170 pounds, had an Afro, and wore a red t-shirt with black pants.
