Chicago man carjacked woman while on bail for a felony gun case, police say

CHICAGO — A 35-year-old Chicago man, on bail awaiting trial for being a felon in possession of a firearm, carjacked a woman in Back of the Yards this summer, Chicago police said in a media release on Friday.

Josiah Noyola, 35, was ordered detained by Judge William Fahy this afternoon.

Cops arrested him Thursday after he was identified as the man who implied he had a weapon while carjacking a 30-year-old woman in the 5200 block of South Damen around 12:20 a.m. on July 25, CPD said.

Prosecutors said Noyola and an unknown number of accomplices carjacked the woman “after a planned social meet-up.” They beat her up, kicked her, and robbed her of her keys, car, and phone, according to the state’s petition for pretrial detention. It said Noyola is “a self-admitted gang member of Satan’s Disciples.”

Noyola has been on bail since May 30, 2021, the day prosecutors charged him with illegally possessing a firearm, according to court records. A grand jury subsequently returned a three-count true bill against him, including a count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The gun case is due again in court on November 14, possibly to schedule a jury trial, court records show.
