CHICAGO — Smash-and-grab burglars drove a car through a River North storefront overnight and escaped with merchandise worth thousands of dollars. No arrests have been made.

Chicago police received calls of a burglary in progress in the 700 block of North Franklin at 5:50 a.m.

Witnesses reported that the crew slammed a white Dodge Charger through the entrance of Little Black Dress, 750 North Franklin. The group backed another vehicle into the front glass at Endless Supply Sneaker Boutique next door.

Both stores were looted by the crew, who fled the scene in a pickup truck, an Infiniti, and a gray Maserati, according to a Chicago police document. A Chicago police officer responding to the burglary radioed that he saw the vehicles entering the outbound Kennedy Expressway at Ontario Street.

The Dodge Charger was left at the scene, sitting in the Little Black Dress showroom.
