Chicago police released video on Thursday of a smash-and-grab burglary crew breaking into a Lincoln Park fast-food restaurant on September 25. It was one of three break-ins that occurred on the North Side that morning.
The footage shows one burglar throwing a rock to break the front glass at Cilantro, a quick-serve Mexican restaurant at 2258 North Orchard at Lincoln Avenue, at 2:01 a.m.
Three accomplices follow him into the restaurant to rifle through the cash drawers and search the business for valuables. Without identifying the restaurant by name, CPD said last month that the burglars took a cash drawer and a safe.
A Chicago police officer arrived just as the group was speeding away.
Two other businesses were similarly targeted that morning:
Someone threw a rock through the front glass at Daily Bar, 4560 North Lincoln, around 2:30 a.m. According to information released by CPD, nothing was taken from the business.
Police also responded to Coast Cafe, 2878 North Lincoln, around 1:50 a.m. Four men broke the juice bar’s glass door with a rock and took cash from inside. They escaped in a black car.
Anyone with information about the suspects can contact Detective Di Vito, Star #20645, at 312-744-8263. The Cilantro case number is JG437906.
