Overnight home invasion reported in Lincoln Park

Chicago police are investigating a home invasion reported in Lincoln Park early Sunday.

It occurred around 1:34 a.m. in the 1500 block of West Altgeld. A 25-year-old who lives in the home told police that a stranger entered their home, displayed a gun, and took property from inside the house, a CPD spokesperson said. No injuries were reported.

The victim described the robber as a Black man who was 5’4″ to 5’9″ tall and weighed 140 to 180 pounds. He wore a black mask, black jacket, and black pants and escaped in a red car.

Police did not say how the intruder managed to enter the home, a single-family residence that last sold for about $1.5 million.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
