16-year-old charged with string of robberies, sexual abuse on Blue Line trains

Chicago police say a 16-year-old boy was among the people who committed a series of robberies and sexually abused a passenger on the CTA. Cops arrested the teen in the 3600 block of West Fillmore on Saturday to face charges in the crimes, which occurred last month.

He was one of the people who robbed a 29-year-old woman aboard a train near the Blue Line station, 420 South Western, at 10:15 p.m. on November 25, according to CPD.

A couple of hours later, he tried to rob a 19-year-old man on a Blue Line train near the Grand station, police said.

Then, around 5 p.m. on November 26, he allegedly robbed a 27-year-old man aboard a Blue Line train at Kedzie.

Police did not release any other details about the allegations.

The boy is charged with armed robbery, aggravated robbery, attempted armed robbery, and criminal sexual abuse by force. He was scheduled to appear for a detention hearing in juvenile court on Christmas Eve.
