Intruder attacked, robbed woman inside Gold Coast hotel room, police say. Second person robbed nearby

CHICAGO — Police are investigating after a woman reported that she was attacked and robbed by a man who followed her into her Gold Coast hotel room on Saturday morning. It happened a couple of hours after a man was robbed a couple of blocks away.

The woman, whose age was unavailable, told police that an unknown man followed her into her hotel room in the 1300 block of North State around 3:20 a.m. A Chicago police spokesperson said the victim struggled with the man, who pulled out a gun and punched her in the head.

He took the woman’s valuables and fled the scene. An officer at the scene broadcast a description of the man to other units in the area: a slim Black man standing about 6’1″ tall and wearing a green hoodie, jeans, and black, white, and red Nike shoes.

Earlier, around 3:20 a.m., a 25-year-old man was robbed near a high-rise residence in the 1100 block of North Dearborn. The robber approached the victim in an alley, implied he had a gun, and demanded his property, the police spokesperson said.

After getting the victim’s valuables, the robber fled south in the alley. The victim described him as a Black man with a goatee wearing a black coat over a gray top.
