Chicago police are investigating three armed robberies reported overnight in Logan Square and West Town.
In Logan Square, two victims were robbed at gunpoint near the intersection of Fullerton and Spaulding by three armed men who stepped out of a gray SUV around 1:15 a.m. The robbers took iPhones, wallets, computers, and a backpack from the victims and then drove away.
About an hour later, another robbery was reported near Armitage and Francisco. The victim told police that up to five men wearing ski masks got out of a car with at least two guns to take their property.
In West Town, a 25-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint by three offenders in the 1300 block of West Walton around 3:30 a.m. He told police he was outside when the men got out of a dark SUV and demanded his valuables.
The victims offered a mix of suspect descriptions, so it is unclear if the crimes are connected.
After increasing 23% last year, robbery reports in Chicago have declined by 26% through the first three weeks of 2024, according to the Chicago Police Department’s latest data.
It is still unclear whether the decrease is the beginning of a long-term trend or merely a temporary respite brought on by bad weather.
