Man shot while driving in Rogers Park

Chicago police say a man was shot while driving in Rogers Park on New Year’s Day, not far from the Loyola University campus.

The 24-year-old was driving in the 6400 block of North Sheridan when someone fired shots at him from another vehicle around 5:47 a.m., according to a CPD media statement. A bullet grazed the victim’s forehead.

He continued driving until he reached the 6000 block of North Sheridan. There, he drove into a curb and sought help from Chicago police officers who were handling an unrelated medical emergency call.

The Chicago Fire Department transported him to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition.

There were 31 people shot in Rogers Park last year, down slightly from 33 in the previous year but up from 24 in 2021.
