Limo driver carjacked in Wicker Park, another driver carjacked in Lincoln Park

CHICAGO — A limousine driver was carjacked in Wicker Park on Saturday morning. And another motorist was carjacked in Lincoln Park on Friday afternoon. No arrests have been made so far, according to Chicago police.

Carjackers took the limo driver’s Cadillac STX at gunpoint in the 1900 block of West Division around 5:48 a.m. Saturday, police said. The 38-year-old was sitting in the SUV when four men walked up with guns and ordered him out.

He complied, and they drove away with the car after robbing him of his other valuables, according to CPD.

An initial report described the carjackers as Black males wearing ski masks who arrived in a silver SUV, possibly a Hyundai.

In Lincoln Park, a 24-year-old man was carjacked in the 2500 block of North Clark around 4:44 p.m. Friday. He told police he was sitting in his black Toyota Camry when a man pulled a gun on him and demanded control of the car, police said.

He described the hijacker as a Black man standing 5’9″ to 5’11” tall and weighing 130 to 140 pounds.

Despite the recent hijackings, Chicago police records show carjacking cases were down nearly 50% through the first four weeks of the new year compared to 2023.
