Concealed carry holder shoots man while ‘handling’ gun inside Lincoln Park apartment

CHICAGO — A 22-year-old man is recovering after a concealed carry holder shot him inside a Lincoln Park apartment on Thursday evening.

Chicago police said the gun fired while being “handled” by another 22-year-old man who was inside the residence. A bullet struck the victim in the torso. EMS took him to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition.

CPD took the concealed carry holder and witnesses to Area Three headquarters for questioning.

A source familiar with the incident said police found two firearms at the scene.

The victim is the first person shot in Lincoln Park this year. The neighborhood had 12 shooting victims last year, including five during a single event near the Lincoln Park Zoo on June 12. Four people were shot in Lincoln Park in 2022.
