Armed men robbed 4 in 90-minute spree from Old Town to Portage Park, Chicago police say

CHICAGO — Police have issued a warning about yet another armed robbery crew that detectives say committed a holdup spree Friday morning that stretched from Old Town to West Town to Portage Park. They are at least the seventh robbery group that Chicago police have warned about this month.

In the alert, CPD said three men exited a vehicle to rob Friday’s victims between 4 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. In each robbery, the offenders pointed handguns at the victim’s stomach or to the back of the victim’s head while demanding valuables, according to police. The robbers forced two victims to reveal their phone PINs and then took a picture of the PIN with another phone, said the police.

Detectives linked the group to robberies in the 1400 block of North Clark at 4 a.m., the 800 block of North La Salle at 4:10 a.m., the 5100 block of West Roscoe at 4:40 a.m., and the 1600 block of North Oakley at 6:28 a.m.

CPD described the robbers as Black men between 18 and 26 years old wearing black or gray hoodies, black pants, and black and white gym shoes. The robbers stand 5’8″ to 6 feet tall and weigh 150 to 200 pounds, according to the police.

Anyone with information about the crew can contact detectives at 312-744-8263 or 312-46-7394. Refer to crime pattern #24-CWP-016.
