Man stabbed, seriously injured on Chicago Riverwalk

CHICAGO — A man was stabbed and seriously injured while walking on the Chicago Riverwalk in the Loop on Tuesday morning. The assailant remains at large.

Witnesses said Chicago police and fire personnel arrived around 9:10 a.m. to treat the 33-year-old victim, who was found at the bottom of the stairs to the RiverWalk near the Lake Street Bridge. In a brief media statement, police said the victim did not know the attacker.

EMS took the man to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment of a stab wound to his leg.

An officer who reviewed surveillance video said the assailant was a Black man in his 40s or 50s who wore a black hoodie, yellow reflective vest, and jeans. He was last seen heading west on Lake Street.
