Man shot while walking in Rogers Park, CPD says

CHICAGO — A 45-year-old man was shot while walking in Rogers Park on Tuesday morning, Chicago police said.

In a very brief media statement, CPD said the victim was in the 1300 block of West Estes “when he heard shots and felt pain” around 5:09 a.m.

Police said he suffered a gunshot wound to the back. He’s in serious condition at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.

Eight people have been shot in Rogers Park this year, twice the number it had at this point last year. The neighborhood had people shot by this time in 2022, and only two victims in 2021.

CWBChicago was created in 2013 by five residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who had grown disheartened with inaccurate information that was being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. Our coverage area has expanded since then to cover Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side Areas. But our mission remains unchanged: To provide original public safety reporting with better context and greater detail than mainstream media outlets. Our editorial email address is news@cwbchicago.com
