Man fatally stabbed during fight at City Winery

CHICAGO — A man was fatally stabbed on Wednesday evening at City Winery in the West Loop, officials said. Chicago police said the assailant is in custody.

According to police, a 41-year-old man stabbed a 47-year-old man multiple times during an altercation in the 1200 block of West Randolph around 5:20 p.m. Chicago police and fire personnel were seen at City Winery, which had crime scene tape draped around the front entrance.

People who called 911 about the stabbing said the two men were co-workers at the venue, but police have not confirmed that detail. Witnesses tried to save the victim by administering CPR, but their efforts were not successful.

An officer at the scene said the victim had been stabbed three times: in the back, the center chest, and shoulder.
