2 men robbed, 1 pistol-whipped while walking in Lincoln Park

CHICAGO — Two men were robbed at gunpoint in Lincoln Park overnight, according to Chicago police. The robbers struck one of the victims in the face with a firearm, but no other injuries were reported.

According to a Chicago police spokesperson, the men, ages 21 and 23, were walking in the 2100 block of North Sheffield when the two robbers approached them around 3:05 a.m. One of the robbers pistol-whipped the older man before demanding property from the men, police said.

The robbers fled north on Sheffield after the robbery. Officers who spoke with the victims described the suspects as two young Black males, both wearing masks and armed with pistols. One of the robbers wore a white hoodie with blue jeans.

The injured victim declined medical attention, police said.

CPD took 48 robbery reports in Lincoln Park during the first five months of this year, up slightly from 45 last year. Robbery totals for the same period in other recent years, according to city data:
