CHICAGO — A woman was shot during a robbery in the North Lawndale neighborhood on Sunday afternoon, Chicago police said, making her at least the fourth person shot by armed robbers since Thursday night. Other victims have been shot in Rogers Park, Logan Square, and Austin. (Update: A fifth robbery victim was shot Monday morning.)

Three men, at least one of whom had a firearm, confronted the 19-year-old in the 3900 block of West 21st Street around 1:10 p.m. They demanded her property and one of them fired shots, striking the woman in the torso, according to CPD. She was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

All three robbers ran west after getting the woman’s valuables, police said. An officer who reviewed surveillance footage said they were three Black males, one wearing all-black clothing with black shoes, another wearing all-black clothing with white shoes, and the third wearing a black top with red pants.

On Saturday evening, a 49-year-old Uber driver was shot when an armed carjacker slid into his back seat in the 200 block of North Latrobe, police said. The victim had stopped to pick up a passenger when the hijacker entered the Toyota Camry and ordered him out of the vehicle around 9:01 p.m.

The carjacker shot the rideshare driver in the knee even though the victim was complying with his commands, police said.

A 40-year-old man was shot during a robbery in Logan Square around 3:43 a.m. Saturday. Police said a group of robbers shot the man as they robbed him and a 51-year-old woman in the 3600 block of West Cortland. After taking the woman’s valuables, one of the robbers fired a shot, striking the male victim in the knee. He was taken to Stroger Hospital and is in good condition.

Still another robbery victim was shot Thursday night on the Far North Side. A 24-year-old man and his 28-year-old girlfriend were walking in the 7200 block of North Ridge when the robber confronted them around 9:04 p.m. Chicago police said the male victim tried to get ahold of the offender’s firearm, but it discharged, striking him in the hand. After getting wallets from the two victims, the robber fled.

The police did not release descriptions of any of the shooting suspects. However, officers who spoke with the victims on Thursday described the gunman as a heavy-set Hispanic man who stood about 5’8 tall. He wore a face mask and may have a tattoo of a lion or tiger on his left forearm.

Editor’s note: CPD released a media statement that said the robbery occurred at 1:30 p.m. However, we are reporting the time as 1:10 p.m. because that is when officers were dispatched to the scene.
