3 armed robberies reported in Uptown, Lakeview overnight

CHICAGO — Police are investigating three armed robberies that occurred in about 15 minutes overnight, two in Uptown and the third in Lakeview. No arrests have been reported.

The robberies began in Uptown around 12:15 a.m. A man and woman were in the 4100 block of North Marine when a man armed with a pistol demanded their property, according to initial information. He got away with cash from the man’s wallet.

Moments later, two men were robbed in the 4200 block of North Marine. They were walking after parking their car when a dark-colored SUV pulled up and a man got out to rob them at gunpoint. The victims reported that the robber seemed inexperienced and tried to take a phone from them, but he left empty-handed.

Then, around 12:25 a.m., a man was robbed at gunpoint by two men at the corner of Sheridan and Barry in Lakeview. The robbers reportedly dumped his phone nearby and fled in a dark SUV.

Police were given conflicting descriptions of the suspects, but the men, who appeared to be in their teens, were all wearing hoodies and face masks.

All three robberies occurred in the Town Hall (19th) District. Robberies in the district are up 32% this year, with 214 cases reported as of Monday. Robbery reports are up 83% compared to 2020 in Town Hall.
