CHICAGO — Police say a 16-year-old boy was part of a group that robbed two people, including a 71-year-old woman, in Logan Square last month. Both robberies occurred on the afternoon of July 26.
At 1:31 p.m., the teen and others pistol-whipped and robbed the 71-year-old woman in the 1900 block of North Albany, police said. About an hour later, the crew mugged a 39-year-old woman in the 1700 block of North Whipple.
Prosecutors charged the boy with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery of a person older than 60, and two counts of unlawful restraint.
No other information is available about the boy because he is under 18. However, CPD said they arrested the boy Tuesday in the 1100 block of South Hamilton. Cook County’s Juvenile Justice Center is located on that block, suggesting the teen may have other matters in court.
