CHICAGO — A man dressed as a security guard is responsible for shooting another man inside a South Loop diner on Friday morning, according to Chicago police. WGN reported that delegates who attended the Democratic National Convention were inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting.

Area Three detectives released surveillance images of the suspect, hoping someone will be able to identify him.

Police said a 42-year-old man was walking out of White Palace Grill, 1159 South Canal, when a man fired shots, striking him in the back, both arms, and hand. He was initially listed in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Today, CPD said surveillance video shows the man dressed in a security outfit firing a gun toward the victim. The gunman fled the scene, heading north on Canal in a silver Ford Focus.

The suspect is 25 to 35 years old, 5’7″ to 5’11” tall, and 150 to 200 pounds, according to police.

Anyone with information about him can contact detectives at 312-744-8261. The case number is JH-398586.
