Woman shot after bullet flies through apartment window on North Side

CHICAGO — Police say a woman was shot while inside a West Rogers Park home after a bullet crashed through her window and struck her in the back.

The victim, 25, was sitting in a chair when someone fired shots in the area around 12:33 a.m. Tuesday. One bullet broke through a window of the woman’s apartment in the 2500 block of West Fitch.

Her sister called 911, bringing police and fire department personnel to the scene. CPD said she was in fair condition.

There were reports of shots fired a couple of blocks east of the woman’s apartment moments before she was shot. However, an officer at the scene said they believed the bullet that struck her came from a different location.

Area Three detectives are handling the investigation.
