ATMs, cash targeted in two nights of burglaries on NW Side

Update November 19: Chicago police released this video of the suspects:

CHICAGO — It was quite a weekend for businesses on the city’s Northwest Side, and not in a positive way. A burglary crew broke into at least eight storefronts to steal cash registers and break into ATMs, according to Chicago police.

The crew struck during the early morning hours on Sunday and again around the same time on Monday, breaking front glass doors or side windows to get in. CPD said two or three White or Hispanic men wore dark clothing, masks, and gloves during the crimes. They traveled in two sedans, one silver and the other dark.

Targeted businesses included auto parts stores, liquor and convenience stores, and a nail salon.

Sunday’s break-ins occurred at 4:21 a.m. in the 5300 block of North Cumberland; 4:34 a.m. in the 7000 block of West Higgins; 4:44 a.m. in the 4700 block of North Milwaukee; and 4:50 a.m. in the 3400 block of West Irving Park Road.

On Monday, the group struck two businesses in the 5300 block of North Milwaukee at 3:05 a.m. and 3:07 a.m. They moved on to hit a store in the 4300 block of North Elston at 4:04 a.m. and the 2600 block of North Elston at 4:27 a.m.
