CHICAGO — A group of men traveling in stolen Maseratis and armed with rifles and pistols is responsible for two waves of robberies over the past month that have targeted victims from the Loop to the University of Chicago to the South Side, according to Chicago police.

The crew struck five times on Sunday morning and twice on October 19. During each robbery, three to six robbers dressed in dark clothing and ski masks arrived in stolen Maserati Quattroportes. They got out and confronted victims on the streets with handguns and rifles while demanding property.

During some of the robberies, the men pistol-whipped their victims. They stole one victim’s car but dumped it nearby, according to CPD.

Police believe the robberies began in the Loop when they targeted a victim in the first block of West Polk around 2:45 a.m. on October 19. About 30 minutes later, they robbed another victim in the 1400 block of East 57th Street.
