Woman charged with murdering man, sexually assaulting 14-year-old girl

CHICAGO — Prosecutors this week charged a Chicago woman with murdering a man last summer and, in an unrelated case, sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in 2023.

The murder occurred on August 31, 2024, in the 2900 block of East 89th Street. Prosecutors said Kendra Head, 27, was engaged in a marijuana transaction with the victim, Alfredo Gonzalez, who was also celebrating his 36th birthday.

At about 8:30 a.m., Head smoked a joint next to Gonzalez’s car and told a witness who pulled up that Gonzalez had good marijuana, Judge Shauna Boliker said in a detention order. Moments later, Head allegedly pulled a gun and demanded property from Gonzalez. She’s accused of fatally shooting him during the altercation.

Video evidence played a key role as investigators worked the case. Boliker’s detention order said “multiple” Chicago police officers who knew Head from the neighborhood recognized her in the footage.

In the sexual assault case, Head is accused of picking up a 14-year-old girl from home and taking her to a motel on November 8, 2023. Boliker, writing in a separate detention order, said prosecutors believe Head and a 34-year-old man sexually assaulted the girl, who had fallen asleep after ingesting alcohol and a pill. Head had allegedly sent the girl explicit videos, too.

She faces charges of first-degree murder and aggravated criminal sexual assault.
