CHICAGO — Seven-time convicted felon Samuel Victory has gone through a change. A lot of change, in fact. All of it stolen from apartment building laundry machines in Logan Square, if prosecutors and Chicago police are to be believed.

A building manager contacted police last year after someone broke into his apartment buildings in the 2100 block of North St. Louis and forced their way into the laundry machine coin boxes, a CPD report said. The burglar struck on September 24 and September 27. Then, he struck again on February 6 and 7 at another building in the 2100 block of North Kimball, according to police. In addition to the laundry money, the report said the burglar also stole other items like bicycles.

Detectives circulated surveillance video images of the burglar and two cops recognized Victory. You might say they dropped a dime on him. Cops located Victory on Wednesday and took him into custody.

Prosecutors charged him with four counts of burglary and four counts of felony property damage. They also asked Judge Deidre Dyer to keep Victory in jail as a public safety threat, arguing that he’s a seven-time convicted felon with four burglaries in his background.

The judge agreed, so Victory is quartered at the county jail pending trial.
