Suspect detained after fatal stabbing in Albany Park

CHICAGO — A suspect is in custody after a man was fatally stabbed on an Albany Park street corner Tuesday evening. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 34-year-old Juan Carlos Tello Suarez.

Police responded to several calls about a man down on the corner of Drake and Sunnyside around 7:53 p.m. Officers found Suarez, who lived nearby, on the ground with multiple stab wounds throughout his body. A pocketknife was found in the street on the 3500 block of West Sunnyside.

Investigators determined that Suarez and the assailant were in a physical fight when the other man began stabbing him, according to a CPD media statement. The attacker fled the scene, but police took him into custody a short time later.
