Two men have been jailed on robbery charges after prosecutors accused them of robbing two separate passengers aboard a Red Line train at 87th Street.
Officers patrolling the area were waved down by two victims, ages 25 and 27, who both reported being robbed around 9:45 p.m. on April 9, a Chicago police report said. The victims told the cops that both robbers went to a nearby gas station.
When the officers took the victims to the BP station, both victims identified Kevin Stoner, 30, and Kenyon Guillory, 20, as the assailants, according to the report.
During a detention hearing, prosecutors said Stoner went through the older victim’s pockets and handbag, taking a debit card, baseball hat, and bottle of tequila while Guillory held a knife to the man’s side. The victim’s bag strap was also cut with a knife.
Stoner hit the younger victim in the head with a glass bottle while Guillory went through the man’s pockets, taking $30 and a bottle of liquor, officials said.
Judge John Hock ordered Stoner and Guillory detained, citing concerns for public safety.
