Chicago police are warning about a group of armed robbers who have been shooting victims for no apparent reason. Detectives have linked three cases to the offenders, including two this month.
CPD says the first shooting and robbery occurred in the 1500 block of South Spaulding on February 20. A couple was having a conversation when two robbers confronted them with a handgun around 2:43 a.m.
One of the robbers butted into the conversation and shot the 36-year-old male victim in the foot during the holdup, according to CPD.
Then, on April 4, a solo gunman shot and robbed a 58-year-old man in the 2700 block of West Harrison. He demanded the man’s property, and a physical altercation ensued, ending with the victim being shot in the left leg.
Five days later, another shooting and robbery occurred in the 3800 block of West Harrison. CPD said a 56-year-old man was inside a vehicle when two robbers approached and one displayed a gun around 4 a.m.
The pair asked the victim for money, but he refused. CPD said the victim tried to drive away, but the gunman shot him in the neck, causing the victim to crash. He was in critical condition.
Police said the robbers are Black men between 20 and 35 years old. They’re 5’11” to 6’2” tall and 170 to 220 pounds. One wore a black coat with a white reflective emblem, black sneakers with a white “swoosh,” and a partial face mask.
Area Five detectives are handling the investigations. They can be reached at 312-746-8253 regarding crime pattern #25-4-011.
