A 21-year-old Hoffman Estates man fled to Louisiana and tried to hide his identity after murdering a man inside a Hermosa bar in December, officials say. Devin Roldan-Brossett was extradited to Chicago from Lake Charles, Louisiana, to face murder charges last week.

The shooting occurred around 7:45 p.m. on December 12 at The Levee, 4035 West Fullerton.

Prosecutors said video footage showed Roldan-Brossett shooting 38-year-old Israel Guzman in the chest and face before leaving the scene. They said the shooting was unprovoked.

Several witnesses identified him as the shooter, according to prosecutors. They said cell phone location data and firearms testing also linked him to the crime.

Cook County Judge Susana Ortiz detained Roldan-Brossett pending trial.
