The man accused of robbing a victim after he stepped off a casino shuttle bus in Chinatown earlier this year is now charged with mugging another person in the neighborhood that same day.
Willie Greenwood, 27, walked up behind a 48-year-old man as the victim walked near 23rd Street and Wentworth late on March 12, prosecutors said as they filed the latest charges.
Greenwood allegedly tapped the man and demanded his money. When the victim tried to escape, Greenwood punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground, prosecutors said. He then displayed the butt of a handgun in his waistband, which motivated the victim to hand over about $200 cash, according to the allegations.
Chicago cops arrested Greenwood at 26th and California last week after he appeared in court for the previously filed robbery case.

As CWBChicago reported in March, Greenwood was initially arrested by a CPD tactical unit patrolling Chinatown, specifically looking for a car used in three robberies that occurred earlier in the day. All of the victims reported that they were targeted after getting off a casino shuttle.
Around 11:30 p.m., the tactical team in the 200 block of West 23rd Street spotted Greenwood driving a black Hyundai Tucson similar to one linked to the earlier robberies, according to his arrest report. Greenwood gave police permission to search his car, and the cops say they found a BB gun pistol in his glove compartment.
A short time later, a Chinatown security officer contacted the police and reported that a 65-year-old man had been robbed just minutes before the traffic stop.
That victim told police that he was walking home from the Chinatown casino bus when a masked man pointed a gun at him and ordered him to hand over his money, according to a CPD report.
Officers pulled CPD surveillance video and discovered footage that showed Greenwood getting out of his car and running down the 200 block of West 24th Street at the time of the robbery. The report said the video showed him running back to his car moments later.
Greenwood claimed he was dropping off a friend and checking on his girlfriend’s business and said he never got out of his car, according to the report. Confronted with the video, Greenwood admitted it was him running down the street, but he allegedly explained that he was looking for his girlfriend’s car.
CPD officers found $400 in Greenwood’s possession, including five $20 bills, according to the arrest report. The victim also identified him as the robber.
Judge Deidre Dyer detained Greenwood on an armed robbery charge in March. However, Judge Timothy Joyce released him from custody in April, according to court records. Dyer was on the bench again last week when Greenwood appeared for a detention hearing in the newly filed robbery charge. This time, she denied the state’s detention petition and released Greenwood on electronic monitoring.
