Chicago police have released a surveillance video of a man who burglarized a church in the Scottsdale neighborhood last month. Detectives are asking for a little help as they try to identify the thief.

In a “seeking to identify” bulletin released Thursday, CPD said the burglary occurred sometime between 5 p.m. on Friday, July 11, and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, in the 4400 block of West 83rd Street. While CPD did not identify the church by name, St. Bede & St. Denis Parish is located on the block.

Investigators said the man entered the church, forced open a locked donation box, and took the money inside. A video clip released by police shows him bending over the box with a screwdriver in his hand. Authorities did not say how much money was taken.

Area One detectives are handling the investigation. They can be reached at 312-747-8384. Tips can also be submitted anonymously online at cpdtip.com, referencing report number JJ-333706.
