A Hazel Crest woman is facing attempted murder charges for allegedly running over a 17-year-old girl after an accomplice encouraged her to “Mow them b*****s down!”
Prosecutors said the victim was walking with a 38-year-old woman when they noticed a silver Nissan racing toward them in the 400 block of West 112th Street on April 26. Prosecutors said Trinity Smith, 19, intentionally drove over a curb, struck the girl, and left her trapped underneath the car. The woman who had been walking with the girl managed to jump out of the way.
Smith and her passenger, 28-year-old Ashley Hamilton, fled the scene on foot, prosecutors said.
When officers arrived, they found the girl unresponsive with catastrophic injuries, including broken bones, severe facial trauma, third-degree burns, and a traumatic brain injury. Prosecutors said she has been left with the cognitive function of a 10-year-old.

Smith is charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Hamilton is also charged with attempted murder for allegedly ordering Smith to run over the victims.
Judge Luciano Panici Jr. ordered Smith detained pending trial. Judge Anatara Rivera ordered Hamilton detained as well.
