Man slashed in face near Mag Mile, suspect detained

A man was taken into custody Thursday evening after allegedly slashing another man in the face during an attack near the Magnificent Mile, according to Chicago police.

Officers were called to the 800 block of North Rush Street around 6:27 p.m. 6 after reports of a person being cut. A CPD spokesperson said a 30-year-old man was walking in the area when a man approached him, produced a sharp object, and cut the victim’s right cheek.

Responding officers searched the surrounding area and soon found a man matching the suspect’s description walking on the Mag Mile. Cops arrested him in the first block of East Oak Street moments later. Charges are pending.

CPD said the victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
