A man who identified himself as a casino employee was attacked and robbed inside a bathroom at the temporary Bally’s Chicago early Monday morning, according to a Chicago police report. It’s at least the third robbery reported this month on the block where Bally’s is located.

A CPD spokesperson said a 25-year-old man was inside a business in the 600 block of North Wabash Avenue around 2 a.m. when two men confronted him. The men physically attacked the victim and took his belongings before fleeing northbound on Wabash Avenue, police said.

Preliminary information indicates the robbers took the victim’s silver and gold watch, along with a heated jacket.

In keeping with CPD policy, the spokesperson did not identify the business by name. However, a representative for Bally’s confirmed to CWBChicago that a “security-related incident” occurred on the casino property.

“Bally’s Chicago is aware of a security-related incident that occurred on our property late last evening,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “The safety and well-being of our guests, team members, and community remain our top priority. We are working with local authorities and our regulatory body actively on this case. Bally’s remains committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment.”

The casino spokesperson neither confirmed nor denied whether the victim was an employee.

Cops in the area were alerted to watch for two Hispanic men in connection with the robbery.

At about 1 a.m. on December 23, another victim was robbed at gunpoint inside a parking garage across from the casino. The robber, described as a Black male standing about 6 feet 2 inches tall and wearing a black leather jacket and a mask, was armed with a tan handgun equipped with a drum magazine, according to a CPD report. He was last seen walking north on Wabash Avenue.

Early on December 7, a couple walked into a hotel in the 600 block of North Wabash Avenue around 1:30 a.m. and told police they had just been robbed at gunpoint nearby.

Surveillance video showed three offenders arriving in a small black SUV before the street robbery unfolded, according to a CPD report. At least two of the offenders appeared to be armed in the video. They were described as young Black men wearing all black clothing.
