Man found shot, critically injured on Rogers Park street

Police are investigating after a man was found shot and critically injured on a Rogers Park street early Sunday.

A passerby found the 26-year-old man on his hands and knees in the 1700 block of West Albion Street around 5:50 a.m. Responding officers determined the man had been shot in the throat.

The victim was unable to speak due to his injuries, but an officer at the scene said they were working to determine whether he had been targeted in a robbery.

Police found a blood trail leading from the area where the man was discovered to the third floor of a nearby apartment building, authorities said.

Chicago Fire Department paramedics transported the man to St. Francis Hospital, where he was taken into surgery and listed in critical condition.

He is the first victim shot in Rogers Park this year.
